| World Championship of Sand Sculpting |
|
Event Information - September 8 - October 3, 2010 For the first time in history, The World Championship of Sand Sculpting, the largest gathering of sand sculptors in the world, will be in the United States! You'll see master sand sculptors from across the globe competing to create glorious works of art out of nothing more than sand and water. You'll see a competition where the contestants must have the physical ability of an athlete and the precision of a surgeon. Each, whether team or solo, must move their sand by the shovel full into forms, compact it, and carve to completion within a set time frame. We anticipate having 30 solo sculptors, eight doubles teams and five teams of four to six people. The event will begin the week of September 8th with a large display sculpture that will take at least 30 yards (three semi-truckloads) of sand. The same week, the doubles teams will take the field to create sculptures with each team having 20 yards (two semi-truckloads) of sand. In week two the solos and large teams will compete with the soloists having ten yards of sand and the teams having 30 yards each. The final week will feature a gallery of completed sculptures. This is a family fun event that will astound you. Be prepared to be WOWed!
